Of Love; Of Life

Is love just an emotion? A frame of mind? A sensation? A mere word? Can love be equated with hate for hate is an emotion.? Is love something other than what we claim it to be?

A Google search finds 884,000,000 hits on the word love.. Are there really that many characterizations of love?

Love is a kiss, hug, embrace, tears, laughter, joy, sorrow, smiles, frowns. Love is speaking your mind or silence so as to not cause hurt. Love is a walk in the park when your feet ache. Love is awakening before daybreak to participate in an inane escapade. Love is open to all notwithstanding physical, psychological or pecuniary standing.

So we have a special day to announce to our beloved that we do in fact have love, much like we proclaim our thanks on Thanksgiving or our appreciation to Mom on Mother's Day. We spend months preparing for Christmas only to discover that it is rather anticlimactic. Is this 14th of the second month much the same? Dinner, flowers and the almighty box of chocolates?

I can only say this. I love you 365-66 days a year. Day in and day out. Each second, minute and hour. The good times and the not so good. Rain or shine. Torrid heat and numbing cold.
It is more than an emotion. It is the very essence of life itself. My life.
